This week we accept two guests from Finland and a Family with two children from Moscow. This week was the warmest week of the season, though with some northern features. It was mostly sunny with air temperature over +20C (however, it was +3C at night). Water temperature warmed up to +13C (maximum water temperature in Drozdovka this season). So we may call it zone of northern comfort, but sometimes even discomfort, especially for those who like to walk long distance along the river. And guests had to walk a lot, cause fishing became rather hard, as fishermen had to search for active fish (takers). As usual, guests from Finland distinguish themselves: one of them caught the biggest number of fish during this week (8 salmon), another one got 2 salmon and family from Moscow got 4. As a result, 14 salmon of 54-79cm were caught this week (among them 3 samples were fresh grilse and 3 salmon over 70cm). 12 salmon were lost. Among them one salmon was over 1m in length. It was fresh and was hooked at Home pool on the last day of fishing. As bycatch there were 18 local trout (max 51cm), 8 sea trout (max 52cm) (only 3 of them were caught in the sea, the rest were caught in the river) and several pink salmon. By the way all fishermen tried fishing above first waterfall and even visited second waterfall of Drozdovka. It's difficult to specify anything among the flies, as different ones worked fine. To my mind, it was more important to get in right place in right time, then to try to find a super fly. Fish was obviously passive, though fresh was observed in the river. Water level is still rather comfortable for fishing. After last week rains it became the same as in the beginning of July. F.e. two stones (gates) at Birches pool are still under the water. To say the truth, with such water level we hope to have better fishing. This week was rather interesting and we really hope that salmon fishing on Drozdovka river together with nice weather and amazing cuisine cooked by our Chef will touch our guests' feelings. So we hope to see them next year.
